What kind of fish can be kept without other fish of it's own species? It would have to fit into my 10 gallon with 6-8 other (small) fish.
(Freshwater tropical fishmates with a temp of 73 degrees)

oops  . I posted it twice.

a betta (siamese fighting fish)...try getting a betta other than the common veil tail if you want more interesting traits...for a companion, make sure you dont get fish with long trailing fins like guppies...but you have to keep an eye on the fish because some bettas are more tolerant than others in terms of its tanksmates..

a betta is like the biggest loner fish ever. but they are very common. i would get a different type, not a VT or something you would find at a LFS. find something online or somethin. like a halfmoon, or something like that. then you don't look like every other person with a betta from walmart =P

only get a female betta, male's don't do well in community tanks.
