id like to completely rehaul my 125l tank into cichlids

i know only a few will be compatible

but could i have some stocking ideas?

the tank has a U3 filter but im thinking about an external

thanks =]

edit for tank size mistake :\

Can you confirm the tank size, it says 12L but do you mean 120L?

125 could be a nice size for a group of something like cupid cichlids maybe? Or Guinacaras if you can find them... Could do a group of 4 of either of them.

In a 3 foot tank IMO the best mixes are either 4 or 5 dwarfs in pairs or trios or 1 medium and 2 or 3 dwarfs (depending on species) or a breeding pair of medium sized cichlids with dithers or a trio of medium sized cichlids all male or all female to avoid breeding.

I would recommend going external they are just so much better than internals.

Did you have any species you particularly wanted?

hmm Im not even sure to be honest, Id like something centerpiece like

I do like apistogrammas but i feel that they may get lost, its very densely planted lol like cockatoo or something

maybe bolivian rams? can you keep those in a group?

otherwise a pair of medium sized cichlids would be nice with some shoaling fish maybe

hmmm plants and cichlids are sometimes hit and miss as to which will not dig them up. Apistos would be pretty nice, if you went with like 1 male and 3 females in that tank I think you would be okay :) If you got the panduro or nijsens the females look awesome as well. They should be pretty active and you could do like a mix with them some spotted headstanders maybe some hatchets for the top and some pencil fish?

ohhhh that sounds nice!

how are apistos for territory? could i keep corys?

what else could i keep? im going to keep my neon rainbows and maybe add a couple more

I like hatchets though =]

Yeah the rainbows will be fine swap them for the pencil fish I mentioned. Which apistos are you going with? Different species will mean different numbers but only with the females. With cories and apistos its a bit hit and miss so I leave it to your choice if you want to try it, they sometimes intrude on spawning sites and dont understand they have to stay away and get nipped.

Im thinking about either apistogramma cacatuoides or borelli

around here you dont really see many apistos =[

thanks for your help =]
