The title says it all. I am looking for a nice juvi electric blue jack dempsey. Does anyone know where I could find one. It has to be located in the US and willing to ship. I cant find anything on aquabid at the moment. Thanks for all your help. Remember the cheaper the better. My wallet is only so deep  . Thanks!!!

edit: or if you could point me to a juvi-adult male. i want to breed it to my female JD (although its a reg color JD) i want to try to breed out a nice blue line. or find a blue female to go along with it. Thanks again!!!

I am in northeast Ohio and just purchased my EBJD. It is a juvenile and now about 2 inches in length. Since I don't know how far away you are from me it may not be convenient for you to drive here. I have seen EJBD online and they are all juveniles. My fish was $25, special ordered from a local supplier to a retail store. They have many. If you want to spend for the shipping I am sure you'll find one. I'm sure you have done the google search but keep looking.

Also, Two blues bred together will not produce a full blue offspring. To achieve full blue offspring, you must first start with a blue male and breed him with a regular color female Jack Dempsey. The offspring that this pair creates will appear as regular Jack Dempseys, but the difference is that they will carry the blue gene. This group of fish must now be grown out to the size where a female can be determined and selected and bred back to the original blue male. The offspring of this pairing will produce an indeterminant number of true blue variant fish.

Apologies to the site administrators. I am new to this site, but I mean to contribute just as soon as I can help with any of the posts. I am not spamming, so please don't delete this post.

To the original poster:

I have just set up a site all about blue dempseys. You might find it useful. The URL is www.bluejax.oc.uk

As far as getting blue dempseys in the states goes, the man to talk to is Jeff Rapps at www.tangledupincichlids.com.

He simply has the best stock and if you know how hard to maintain these fish are, trust me, you want to start with the best stock.

I wish you luck in your search!

Ohio is a bit too far for me to travel, but about the whole breeding thing... I realized I miss typed it after I wrote it and was too lazy to change it. Thanks for correcting it though and varifying. :D

I'll definately check out your website. As for Jeff Rapps, everyone (even on other forums) has suggested him. so I'm going to go with him. I jsut need ot wait for my next paycheck to come along that isn't going towards bills :(. Then I want to see if anyone I know would like ot get fish as there is a $50 order limit for delivery and splitting shipping costs could help. Althoug hI may jsut get a couple EBJDs and maybe somehting else, so the order limit would be easily reached. Thanks for the help. :good:
