Longevity Of Golden Barbs / Weather Loaches

Sorry to start a whole new topic with this one, but I've looked around the forums and can't find any info.

How long do golden barbs and weather loaches live for? Also, if a fish is getting to the end of it's natural life, what are the signs that show old age is approaching? Obviously I can't look out for grey hair and wrinkles!

when i was younger i had a weather loach that lived for like 12 years...

gold barb Barbus schuberti approx 6 years, unconfirmed reports of 10 years
weather loach/dojo loach Misgurnus angullicaudatus 10-15 years although 20 years is not uncommon
