Has anyone here kept long fin neon tetras?
Saw them online and was kinda shocked by their appearance. They look more like they have a deformity.

Their spine should be straight.. do not purchase if they have bent spine.
They should look like this

I saw them on a website that was showing the "coolest neon tetra verietes".
As soon as I saw them I knew something wasn't right.

@Fishmanic s photo looks much better.

I may be wrong in either case but when I saw the image in the first post what came to my feeble mind was genetically modified, like Glofish, or so badly inbred that it has caused deformities.

Now the image supplied by Fishmanic actually looks sort of cool but I imnagine one would need to be VERY careful about tank mates.

IDK what they are splicing this fish with, but it looks sickly.

yeah. they can be nippy i wonder when they are with a bunch, will they attack the fins or what. i cant find much information on how they came to be. Everything links to the regular Neon Tetra's.

Why do humans do this to a fish, I wouldn't buy them on principle. The more we buy this type of fish the more these idiots will breed them.
It isn't just breeding issues as genetic modifications are involved as with Glofish. And I'd bet dollars to donuts that it isn't just fish...
