I had two honeys for a while. One died about a week ago. Since then, the remaining one has become less interested in the rest of the community and now hangs around at the top of the tank and won't eat. He doesn't move around much, even with proding. Could he be lonely? I saw no obvious illness problems with the one that died so I don't think he is ill. Are they known to become ill from things that I could prevent? My water is .NH4-0, NO2-0, NO3-10.
My only problem has been my pH, it's only 6.0 if not lower. Is this a problem for them?

Thanks

Update.... he passed on :/ I checked him and tried to take some pictures but my camera su**s. I saw absolutely nothing wrong with him. Full color with no marks, bumps, white spot, clear eyes. All fins full. The same as the first one. I really think the pH killed them. Does anyone have a # they know is needed for these guys cause I really like them and would like to get more. Should I just assume somewhere between 6.8-7.8?

Thanks.

yes when they are well and happy they are beutiful fish, but when they are unwell they get pretty shy (mine have fin rot but there fins are fine but they have a white spot on their head which comes under the fin rot disease. so mine are very shy at the mo)

they are great fish and by far my favourite at the moment. though im not sure they are too picky with water stats. however my last lot died with no symptoms which is annoying.

i found mine killed alot of my other fish aswell and was a big disease but thats cleared up now. which was due to bad water conditions so if any other fish have died you may have that too, so id give plenty of water changes.

do you condition the water when you do water changes?
do you test your water every so often?
have any other fish died?
if so any symptoms on them?

sorry for so many questions :/ just trying to help :)

lil-x-me..x

Thanks for the post. I use conditioner every change. I did my last change with aq salt and it seemed to help raise the pH a bit. I've gotten advice on how to stabilize the pH and KH. The rest of the levels are fine as I posted earlier. The only other fish to die was a black neon. No obvious visual problems. He was fairly new so it could have been weak from the lfs. The rest are fine. If I can get the pH right, I think I can go ahead and get a couple more honeys.

Thanks.

ok thats alright then, just didnt want you to end up losing all of your fish like i did x :( keep on eye on it for a week or so and if everything is fine, then id say its ok to get some more fish x and try and get your PH up a bit too x

hope i helped! :)

good luck :good:

Thanks lil. Just showing an interest is help enough. That's what I like about this forum. You can always find someone who has gone thru the same thing and you can learn from their experiences. Hopefully I can get this pH, KH, GH thing licked and I'll be set.

Thanks.
