Lone Fish Compatible With Rosy Barbs

what's a lone fish that is compatible with rosy barbs and will be happy in a 20 gallon, besides plecs and paradise fish?

Well I know you said no paradise fish but does that also mean no other gouramis? There are several that would work. You could also do a small loach like kuhlis or sids (if it is a 20 gallon long instead of high). Or cories.

EDIT: I just realized you said "lone". That rules out loaches or cories!

Gouramis are good fish for that purpose. You can choose from many: thicklipped, kissing, honey, pearl, opaline, banded etc.

i'm interested in opaline/three-spot/blue/gold gouramis, but don't they grow too big (6") for my 30" long tank?
