Fish Crazy
DOES ANYONE AROUND THE NEWCASTLE/SUNDERLAND/DURHAM AREA KNOW ANY GOOD SHOP TO BUY FISH
Hey im from South Shields. Il list the ones iv been to:
Harton Aquatics (South Shields) - only been in once, seemed okay, not a huge selection, and iv heard bad reviews of the place.
Pets @ Home (Sunderland) - decent variety of fish, although i think i wont buy any from there again, as practically all of the corys iv bought have died.
Monument Aquatics (Washington) - its okay, doesnt have a big selection, probably has more tanks than types of tropical fish.
Peter Barratts (North Gosforth) - probably best iv been to, has a good selection of fish, quite a few plecos, good place for accessories and ornaments too.
Little Pet Store (Gateshead) - only been once, didnt expect him to sell much but i was wrong, he has a decent selection of tropical fish, and i got bogwood and plants cheap.
Dobbies (Birtley) - cant say much, thought it was crap. The one past Newcastle airport up at Ponteland is better, it sells marine fish too, but nothing special.
If i had to recommend anywhere to you, i would recommend Peter Barratts, although its through the tunnel n' all, its still worth going and if i had to choose anywhere myself, it would be there. Well worth a look.
I cant comment on any other places because iv never been (yet), but iv heard good things about Betta Aquaria in Newcastle, and also my mate told me that The Pet Shop in Hebburn is okay, apparently he sells a selection of Plecos, and if you ever need any fish he hasnt got, he can order them in for you.
If you need the address to any of these, just type the names in Yell.com and itl find it, or google them.
thair plants are cheap something silly like 40 per bunch, seem to be healthy plants aswell and they dont use chems on thair plants so are safe for shrimp tanks. thair fish tanks vary first couple times i went they were clean and evrything looked verry healthy past few times i have been thair fish havent looked too good. there is two stores they are both small there is one for the fish and plants and another for thair tanks, food, accesories ect the people that normally work in the shop that sells the fish well they seem to know thair stuff but they have a BIG attitude problem regardless if your buying fish and being polite or not, on the other hand the people that normally work in the other shop that sells the tanks and stuff are verry polite and helpfull. i try no to go the betta aquaria because of the attitude you get i dont like giving my money to miserable people who give you attitude with no manners...but iv heard good things about Betta Aquaria in Newcastle
