Local Ponds

Has anyone else ever wondered about local bodies of water and their stats? There are a few ponds and one nature preserve lake......I think I'll drag the test kit out and see what I find. Results to follow.

The nature preserve is spring fed while the ponds are not. Actually, the ponds are part of a watershed and I wonder if stats will vary from pond to pond

Also, has anyone ever used plants from ponds and such in their tanks?

Unless you live in a tropical/subtropical area, many local aquatic plants will not survive long in a tropical aqaurium.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, if you are very interested in local aquatic plants, perhaps a cold water tank will provide proper conditions for them to prosper. I will try to dig up a link for you about US native aquatic plants, if I can still find it.
