Looks like an Armored Bichir to me. What size tank is it in? What are the tank mates?
Ahhh yes that is the little guy, thank you very much for your help...Protector,he is in a 15 gallon isolation tank at the moment with a few minnows, I was unsure what he ate so I dropped a few off in there just in case. The guy who gave him to me said he was a loach but not like any I have ever seen and he lost a few fish to him as well.
As you're new here and I don't know how experienced you are, I'm just going to throw a few things out there; I hope you don't think I'm being patronising!
You'll need to get him on a proper diet ASAP; feeder fish can cause a lot of health problems due to the thiaminase they contain, as well as parasites and other diseases.
It shouldn't be hard; they're not usually fussy eaters.
Is your quarantine tank cycled? Do you have a decent sized, cycled tank (at least four foot) to move him into?

Looks like my delhezi bichir. If it is the same then a 45 wouldn't be too bad although not ideal. Mines in a 125 and it has hardly grown in the few months iv had it. The Ornate I have and the Senegals I did have both have quicker growth rates.
