I got one hell ova suprise, i managed to track down some cheap live rock last week, about $3 per Kg. anyways i set it all up and about a couple hours later i noticed a anemone. not to big at all about 20mm wide it's almost a dark red, then to my horror delight and amazment i found anouther one, a even smaller 1 about 1cm wide same colour aswell, then anouther one popped up, but this ones also about 1cm wide but is bright green.

Now i was planning a FOWLR tank and i am so using my old FW lights about 70w white and 40 black, they have been in the tank about a week and seem to be doing well, the small green one didn't look to great to start but he now seems to be doing alot better. I dont know to much about these things well i know nothing about them actually, dont actually have a clue what to do. I cant afford to step up my lights right now. But 1 of my hermit crabs love them and is allways playing with them.

how long are these guys gonna last, i dont even know what to feed them so i gave them all some bloodworms whiched they seem to like. Should i consider taking them to my LFS and selling them, i would really like to keep them tho.

Before we go further, are you sure thay are not Aiptasia?

These are very common to receive on live rock. And they will spread like weeds. But if you are doing fish only, it won't matter much.

Fish only tank, I would keep them and hand feed a blood worm from time to time.
Just kind of see what happens.

I had a tiny anemone appear on my liverock last year. When i too the photos every told me to get rid of it as they were convinced it was a Majano (almost as bad as the aiptasia). I was reluctant to get rid of it so early and just decided to monitor it. Im pleased to say its grown into a lovly small bubbletip anemone. I personally dont advocate purchasing anemones due to their delicacy but the fact it arrived on my liverock allowed me to attempt to keep it and learn as much as i can about them.

I would mak sure you can ID this anemone properly before deciding if its a freidnly addition or not.

HHHMMmm interesting, well i think i'm gonna keep an eye on it and when i can get a pick i'll try upload it to identify it. But they're adding a bit of colour to the tank now, not much but a little :D

So if it is a aiptasia i think i'll take it back to the big fish tank by the beach, but how is this really bad except the multiply like crazy?

In a fish only itsd not that bad as these merely multiply alot. In a reef tank hwoever this is very dangerous as they will overpower and sting corals etc .

They can be left alone in a fish only system if you want to.

if its FOWLR You should keep em, however I think you should try your best to upgrade lighting, to incresse the chances of keeping them alive.
