I bought 15 lbs. of LR a couple weeks ago.
It appears to be at the end of the curing stage and sluffing off dead stuff.
I don't want to keep the dead debree in my tank so I was wondering about giving the rock a bath. :/
Have any of you had similar situations???
I need a how to, or its going in the sink to dance with my high power sprayer.
I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Kim :flex:

I would not spray it off as it might wash away pods or other life forms that are on the surface. perhaps a gentle scruib with a new toothbrush t oget rid of the worst detrius

That was my first thought, However, Wouldn't a toothbrush be more destructive than a kitchen sprayer. I definately want to keep the life.

I have a Tungan Rock that is absoultely beautiful. This Fiji is filthy.

I read you were just dubbed a mod, Cool Beans ! Congrats !

Why not just leave it for your clean up crew, anything you remove will take life with it, and you purchased the LR for the life. Also if you spray it with the sprayer I'll bet you start the cycle process anew

too late  , the damage is done, although i lightly removed the debre. lightly to me, maybe not to the LR. It was pretty bad, my saltwater mixture in the bucket that i used was dark brown filled with dead sponge. I really should have agitated it in the sw bucket before i put it in the tank in the first place. i have a hard time trusting my instincts. i'll get over it soon.
thanks

my clean up crew is awsome!!!!! never thought i'd get the results im seeing. i just added um to the tank last night, and the results were obvious by morn.

Good!" You will find a well stocked cleanup crew will make all the difference to your tank.
