just noticed my muesli jar is crawling with weevils climbing up the sides. If I can catch them, would my fish like weevils as a treat? I have mollies, a convict cichlid and swordtails. Also, bucket in yard has wriggly 5mm worm things on sides at surface (mosquito larvae?) -are these edible for my fish?

Yes, they will. But, your stocking is horrible. Convict Cichlids are ounce for ounce, one of the most aggressive cichlids out there. I've seen then de-scale another convict( poor thing only lived a day after that). I would definatly recommend you give the convict away before it does some serious damage to your swords and mollies. What size tank is this?

Thanks for your advice. Weevils for breakfast tomorrow then.
Don't worry the convict is in a separate tank on his own! I'm well aware how agressive cichlids are and wouldn't let him kill my much smaller 2 mollies who share an 18in tank with 2 small swordtails..
