Little Spat

So about a week ago I bought two angelicus loach. I kept a good eye on them they're eating well and are very active. So today I bought two more. After being in the tank for about an hour two got into a little fight. The larger of the loaches turned almost totally grey. Around 5 minutes later he turned back his normal color. I was pretty confused for a minute but I read a thing about clown loach doing this and sparring. I just thought it was neat!

Loads of fish change colour when they're stressed or angry or at night. My old, wild coloured oscar used to go almost totally white if you walked away from his tank!

One of the most dramatic changes I know of is with my false neons; in the dark they lose their blue colouration completely, and go a beautiful copper/red colour; I found this out one day when I turned the tank light on before I'd opened the curtains or put the room light on.

Common plecs are also well known for developing a pattern of light and dark stripes if they're stressed or unhappy; so do discus and many other cichlids.

Get yourself a rubbernose plec if you have the space and like the colour changes. When i put the lights on in the morning he's a pale sandy colour, 10 minutes and he's a dark greeny brown. Its the most vast colour change ive seen in any fish i keep, bar Kribensis at breeding time!

I wish I did have the room for a pleco. I think I'll have to get a uv sterilizer instead. I have 96 watts of light, co2, and lots of plants in a 29 gallon. Brown algae is making a big bloom right now.

How big is your tank? They're not know to grow much more than 5" in most aqauriums, and only 6 in the wild

Wish i could grab you picture of mine but cant find the lens to get him under his wood. Ive never got a good one of him yet!

I have 29 gallon with 2 young golden gourami and 4 angelicus loach. The tank is about 5 weeks out of cycle and I just don't want to overcrowd it. I think in a few months I will try and find a used larger tank like 55 gallon plus but I don't want to count on it then let my fish live in a poor habitat.

They had a little spat again today and I got pictures. The same two got into it. Check it out.
