Just an update on him. His colors are coming in nicely now and he's not shy at all. I think it's a "he."
And the Blue Acara.

if i were to get a blue JD, would it be better with more of its kind or is it a really easy compatible fish?

The blue acara only shows a little bit of aggression towards him. They're about the same size and it seems the EBJD is growing a little faster. If it were me I wouldn't put two EBJD's in the same tank, but that depends on the tank size, etc. They are more docile and get along with more fish though.
