Just done my first treatment for white spots, I was just wondering how long will it take to clear and should I just leave the water till I do my next water change next week?

When my fish had it, it took about two weeks or so to clear up, though I was doing half doses as I had sensitive fish. In regards to water changes, do whatever it says in the instructions. If it doesn't say anything, just carry on as normal.

Once it's cleared up do I need to remove the medication or anything?

I personally just did several big water changes to make sure there was no medication left. I'd also not done any water changes for those two weeks so it helped bring my nitrate down as well. You can also add some activated carbon to your filter which will absorb the meds and then be removed later on.

If u put ur carbon bk in ur filter that will clean up the medication in the tank. My tank took bout 8-9 day to get rid of the white spot. I all so lost a fish by not half doesing the medication due to my black ghost knife bein sensitive to medication soo keep that in mind wen treating
ur tanks

Just to add that the majority of whitespot treatments have several doses to the course. It is very important to follow the instructions and not stop dosing because the spots have gone. That's just the first stage in the parasite's lifecycle. The second is where the spots have dropped off the fish and are lying encapsulated on the bottom of the tank multiplying. The third and last stage is where the capsules split and free swimming parasites go looking for a fish to infect. As the parasite can only be killed in this free swimming stage, you must have some medication in the tank when the very last capsule splits.

It's says add more in 4 days an then the 7th day shall I just keep doing that untill I'm certen they have gone?

Hi I would only use protozin and do exactly what the bottle says remove your carbon
What ever make you are using just do what it say and make sure you carry out the full dose
On the days it says you should see it going after a few days even if it gone stiff follow the dose on the bottle
