Hi new on here and now looking for a little information just setup a new tank had water test a local aquarium shop near me and was told to give it another we as the nitrate was low but just to be sure everything else was fine.

Anyway turned the light on tonight an now there are little white creatures swimming around can anyone shed any light on what these are any if they need treating. Any info greatly received.

are they little white wormy-looking things? If so they are probably planaria. Quite common in cycling tanks I believe and nothing to worry about.

Are you doing anything to cycle the tank (adding fish food or ammonia) or are you just leaving it set-up with water.
There's a very useful pinned article about fishless cycling at the top of this page if you haven't read it yet

If you have planaria Avoid feeding the fish for a few days and do a good gravel vac, you will find they get mostly eaten by the fish.
common cause is over feeding.

If they are small little thing that seem to jump like fleas in the water.
I think they are Daphnica (water fleas) *correct me if I'm wrong as I have ALOT of these..
