I have 11-12 juvie swords in the main tank which has good plant cover. Several of them have staked out claims and even try to chase off their own Mother. It is quite cute watching a 1.5cm juvie trying to push off a highly pregnant 6cm Mommy. Little teenage punks!!

Wow, I guess I have codependent swordtails. I've got a group of 6 that was born Oct. 31. Normally I individually name my swordies but this group is just referred to as the "Spotty Kids". Ever since they were born they've hung together as a group. I know swordies aren't considered a schooling fish but apparently their Mom Spotty never told them that. They always follow each other around and at night they even sleep in a pile. I caught them in a pile last night and it was so funny looking. One is starting to develop a sword, it's about a quarter inch long and I think the other 5 are going to stay female. I've never seen them squabble amongst themselves and they are super friendly. They always come up and swim around my hands if I'm doing anything in the tank. I've moved them a couple of times and they swim right into the net. They are so trusting it amazes me.
