I was doing my usual 25% water change in my 20 gallon and had my sponge filter and my carbon filter in a plastic container I looked in and noticed tiny little bugs zipping around in the water from my media. They are about the size of a pin head grey in color. I sat in front of my tank for 5 minutes looking to see if they were crawling around my gravel but didn't see anything. Do I need to be worried? if so, what would you recommend? My water stats are all good. Ammonia, phosphates, nitrites, ph etc.... I haven't added any new fish in over a year, my mollies take care of that for me. I have 7 mollies, 2 giant danios and a plecostimus. Thanks in advance. All I have done is put in a new sponge filter for now. I posted a video of them on you tube, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqjFIyudMfg

If any of them gvet into your tank they'll be gobbled up by your fish. Its nothing to worry about, its all a little added nutrition for your fish. Having seen the video it certainly is quite a lot of the little things, i wouldnt worry though. So long as you don't add that water back to your tank you'll be ok, but any left in the filter if hey come out they'll be fish food.

Looks a little like daphnia to me, harmless but the fish will love them :good: Most likely some eggs were in the food which has got sucked into your filter and they hatched, then bred.

Whew !!! not ever seeing anything like this before had me worried. I had visions of twice a week water changes and fish dying. Thank you for the info, what a relief.
