Little Advice Please?

Heya all
Ive picked up some wood of lovely shapes when I was walking down the river that Id like to use in my tank, But how would I make it safe to use???
Would just boiling it kill off any nastys (bugs/ salt ect)??
Or what would be safe to use on it so that it could go in the tank??

Boiling it should get rid of a lot of the bugs but also leave it soaking to see it anything leaches from it

I agree with boiling if you can. Do you have any idea what type of wood it is. Soft woods like pine are not suitable as they rot. Some other woods could contain toxins like Eucalyptus, so try your best to identify it.
