I was in Lisbon this weekend, very quickly (within about 5 minutes of going into the hotel) clocked the aquarium adverts and went yesterday before we flew back.

It comes VERY highly recommended! BEAUTIFUL tanks!
Especially the 5 Million Litre main tank (i tried to do the gallon conversion online, but all the converters were like eh? huh? BLAM so yeah) which had around 6-7 different species of shark, schools of large fish, rays, coral and the Manta Ray which had a 2 metre wing span!! O_O

You could easily see into every tank, the place itself was very empty of tourists, not only did they have fish but they had ocean/coast birds, the CUTEST sea otters EVER, several penguin species and puffins (all in tanks with fish as well).

They had so many imaginative tanks, including one which was completely dark, with those fish with lights on their heads, was like a tank full of watery fireflies!

Go to Lisbon NOW!

I took a TON of photos, will post them up this evening when I get home.

well thats 1 320 860.26 US gallons

so..

6 neon tetras
2 Dwarf Gouramis
5 otos..

do you think they will be overstocked...

crikey.. 1 320 860.26 inches of fish... im betting thats not a juwel compact H filter..

Squid

even that enormous ray, you would lose him in the tank, couldn't see the other side of it! had massive filter outflow HUGE outflow in the centre of the tank.

the whole building was built as an aquarium, instead of places like london aquarium that had to adapt to the building, so all the mechanisms and filters etc were completely out of sight, and you were able to view the main big tank from all sides, with 4 ENORMOUS double height windows. as well as a dozen smaller windows all the way around.

Thanks catxx.....lovely pics. My friend, who's not even into fish , has been raving about that place since last summer..... I must try to pay a visit

over xmas i'll be at my dads, with nice fast broadband, and i can upload the little 40second videos i did.
1 of the sea otters (sea otters <3!!), 1 of the manta ray gliding along, and another of that main big tank and me being excited pointing the camera everywhere!

also getting one of my two film cameras developed, this one today is a black and white medium format film, i think i took one or two of fish, the rest of penguins & puffins!

i was a little over excited i was.

maybe one of the mods could move this to the member pictures forum??
