A friend has got a betta with white liquid coming from the gills any ideas

Sounds like an infection in the gills and they are leaking puss maybe? I would treat it like an infection. Higer temps, salt, etc.

If it's that infected that it's leaking pus I'd start the big guns straight away - MAracyn 1 and Maracyn 2 combo plus colloidal silver if you can get any.

have told him to use the maracyn 1 & 2 and he said he's gonna try it so fingers crossed
