as far as i was aware my lionfish was a Pterois volitans ( common lionfish )
however soem research has led me to think otherwise. i found a picture on a database that looked IDENTICAL to my lil sven and
it was labelled as an "Antenna lion" Pterois Antenna. so i was sure he was this, as every single detail was perfect. and fro mwhat i read and viewed they vary in colour from very volitan looking only slighlty Browny red, to blood red. formwise there almost identical to p. volitan.
the one i found identical to sven was also a baby so i thought maybe soem of the image search results didnt look like him because they were mature adults.
however a google search of p. volitans will unearth pictures that look like my sven and the P. antenna, only they are Labelled as " red volitan "
i know p. antenna can become very red coloured. and im stuck knowing which mine is...

all i need to know to prove which he is, is...
Are Antenna lionfish commonly sold under the name " red volitan lion" or red lionfish.
if so i have p. antenna, maxing out at 8"-10" instead of the huge 16" p.volitan

sorry its a bit complicated but soemone here msut know.
many thanks in advance äc

Yours is almost certainly a P. volitans; the pectoral fins give him away. On P. antennata, the pectoral rays are longer, thinner and lack connective tissue.
