to the point, our lion fish keeps eating air off the bubbler( see pics).

this is swelling his stomach somthing ferce.
is this ok?

just got the tank, which included the lion fish, and some small crabs and such..

We have added a lot of stuff, including some starfish, and a puffer fish in the last couple of days.

thank you in advance for any advice..

doubt you will have any crabs for long lol most puffers make meals out of them pretty fast. Might also check on the compatibility of the puffer and lion fish. I have heard they will fair ok with some starfish depending on puffer, but the lion fish (although aggressive itself) does have some long (fins i quess you would call them) and some puffers are quite the nippers and faster than you think. Steelhair will probably know more on this or you might check in marine section of the forum for some more marine experienced advice.

thank you for your input phlawed,

I am more specifically looking for input on the fact that my lion fish seem to be attempting suicide by ingestion of air.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,

well that was some of the point of the puffer. If he is getting stressed due to tank mates, he might be showing some sort of stress signal. For example, when a dog gets sick it eats grass. Maybe this is sign of something else. But, being honest with you, its hard to just say what is wrong with your fish. Thats why i recomened the marine forum to ask your question or PM steelhair with the problem. They might know more or exactly what the problem is. Many of the marine community dont browse the emergancy section as it usually pertains to freshwater fish. Although i think its intended for both, i think your question will be answered faster and more accuratly in the marine section. Good luck and hope it is ok. i love the looks of lion fish, they are simply amazing looking to just watch swim.
