COPY OF THREAD in BSS section - HOW much should i charge for them ?

just testing the water to see if anyone would be interested in them - have 4 males in a seperate tank aswell as my normal breeding group of 7

i will send 1 adult male - unrelated and some babies they were born on 12th february 2009 and 25th february
THESE are not hybrids and have never been in a tank with any other livebearers

if i can sex them i would send 1 adult male and 2 female young ones or what ever you like
they only have 15 or so fry every 10 weeks so not really a prolific breeder

Hello Sarah,

I always feel better about giving fish away to good homes rather than trying to get a good price. But with that said, do ask local retailers if they will take some. I recently sold a batch of this species to one particular store and got £25 credit for about 30-40 reasonably large juveniles.

In other words, I'm happy to get 50p to £1 per fish. That more than offset what they cost me to buy, and frankly while I'm rearing another batch now, I've put a glassfish in the Limia tank to eat any more fry!

Cheers, Neale

thanks neale - the reason i'm selling and not giving away is cos the stuff i sell from the tanks is buying my daughter her summer dresses and my son hes summer clothes lol

Ah, I see. I shall hold off advertising free Limia then!

Do try going via retailers though; it's a lot less hassle just being able to offload a whole bunch of fish at once, and even if you get credit, you can use that to buy food, dechlorinator, etc. This will save you on your aquarium expenses, so you'll be free to go shopping with the kids!

If it was me, I would take some to the next club meeting and auction them there. That ends up being a cash deal with people that you know can care for them properly. I am strongly considering doing just that with some of my surplus this Saturday.

I dont know where there are any in devon :(

I'm not sure if plymouth is still running, but Bristol is if u like a drive.

Passing fish arounf clubs is great as you may lose them them at some point and then get them back easily

not very good at driving far with my MS so plymouth would be ok as long as wheelchair access is there
would love to pass them in at a club or a breeder just so that it means there are more of these fish available and they get looked after properly
but it might not turn out like that

I would be very interested in buying Limia Nigrofasciata if you have any.Males and females

Wow, you folks have it lucky. In the U.S., they are probably amongst the most expensive livebearers around, stopping short of some of the more expensive northern xiphophorus and maybe girardinichthys.
