I have a few noob starter kits, they are a six gallon and two 1.5 gallon betta tanks. The six gallon has been planted for almost a month now (I had to redo it) and it's looking great. I've got Anubias nana, anubias ?barteri, thin val and lilaeopsis. They're all growing really great under an energy saving bulb (this tank is intended to show off fish, not grow plants, obviously - but I plant everything lol). So now I'm going off on the betta tanks... They have little LED squares in the lid. The lights are actually blue. I have serious doubts that they will do anything much for plants. One of the tanks is looking good with a twisted piece of wood and light sand, so I think I'll leave it be. The other I'm planning to show off a pink and white betta. I was thinking about whacking a cow bone, probably a scapula or part of a pelvis in the middle (ancient bleached bones, after baking of course) and then surrounding it with lilaeopsis on an iron stone gravel substrate. The tank is in a window and oddly I have no problems with algae, there wasn't algae in there even when I had anubias plants in there and was adding fertiliser.
So do you think I would get away with planting lilaeopsis in this relatively low light tank? The other tank is growing it, but that has a decent light in it. Will the sunlight be enough?
Thanks in advance.
