Lights?

T8's are the standard at the moment, T5's produce more lumens per watt and i believe they last longer and run cheaper. they are good for planted and SW specialists, you can get T6 which will run in a T8 ballast where as T5 tubes wont.

T4's arent used in fish keeping as T5's are considered better

What are the kind of lights that you can get that produce 3 spikes, vs. 2 spikes in the spectrum?

Are these the T5s?

Sorry for the hijack.

Also T8's are 1 inch in diameter hence the 8 - 8/8 or a whole inch. T5's are 5/8's of an inch in diameter.

depends on the spectrum i believe but i think its tri-phosphor tubes that do that note the tri

Right, are those labeled with a "T" like the other tubes are?

Yeah my T8 has the 3 peaks therfore a triphospho tube but i think (correct me if im wrong) you can get tri phosphotubes in all sized tubes

all tubes have a T size a believe, but you can get T8 and T5 and also PC lamps with tri phosphor lamps

each tube should have the spectrum on the side which will show you the highlighted colours

If that is the case; that is good news for me. Then I will be able to get one for my hood!

most tubes are triphospho tubes, especially the ones that come in plug and play aquaria

Okay, thanks for the bit of info.

I always thought the the tri-phospho tubes had to have some special set-up.

Thanks again, and sorry for the hijack.
