Just curious, what happens, other than the possible proliferation of algae, if you leave the aquarium lights on for a long time?

For example, 25 hours, and 48 hours.

I ask, because I like to see my fish, but as a religious Jew, I cannot turn the light on or off for 25 hrs each week, and then for some holidays for two, or even three days in a row, if the weekly Sabbath coincides right next to a two day holiday.

Thank you! :good:

Would you be able to use an automatic timer that plugs into the wall socket?

Once you've programmed it, you don't need to touch it and it'll turn the lights on and off for you.

The problem with that is the space where the outlets that I use for the tank is limited. The timers that we currently use for our regular lights would be too big for there.

I can look for a smaller timer, but I'm not sure ill find one. And the outlets that I use are the only ones I can use for the tank where it is... And I have no where else to put the tank where we live.

Put an extension cord between the wall and the timer?

While an occasional day with no lights won't hurt your fish (or plants if you have live ones) you can't really do that on a regular basis.

In the meantime, I've been using the blue light option (Marineland LED strip with day and night modes) so that we can kind of see the fish, but every time we do that, the dwarf frog in there gets pale by the next day, and I'm not sure if that's ok or not.

Until you get a timer sorted, I would leave the lights off the duration.

You're welcome :)

My dear husband was nice enough to pick up a timer for me today (despite the fact that he thinks I'm a little nuts with all the fish stuff.... For goodness sakes, it's only a 10gal tank.... for now :hyper: ), so the problem is solved B-)

Ah, that's great news, well done hubby :D
