Lights On ,morning Or Evening

ive got lots of pants so mine are on from 7:00am..till about 9:00pm- sometimes later, it depends whether im in school or not

I'm confused because my fish are in a room with a skylight and 3 full length french windows so it's about as bright as a room can get without being outside but when i go away for a couple of days and leave the lights off even if i come back during the day all the fish have lost their colour and are dopey. It doesn't matter how much light they get during the day they only fully wake up when the tank light is on!

yeah,this is the main reason i asked,my fish dont seem so active when the lights are off,

Lights on a timer; on at 1pm, off at 10.30pm, just as the plants are starting to close up. Well planted.
