Lights For A Tank

ok so i got my tank in mid-august and it was one of those full sets. it came it a heater a light a filter and the tank.... the light was good but today it went ... now my tank has no lighting and my question is, is it how long most lights last?

the name of it was sunglow or glowsun something among those lines.... what lights would you recommend its a 60 liter / 15 gallon

I would aim at 16-18 watts.

Is it the bulb or the starter which is gone? Both are easy to replace. I personally don't bother with aquarium bulbs and can highly recommend colour 865 bulbs by Philips or Osram. I used them on planted and Malawi tanks without problems.

If you buy a new set of lights, including a new ballast, I would recommend going for an electronic one, they are much better.

thanks.... im sure that its the bulb cause it is black on both sides

Yep, definitely sounds like the bulb. Usually they last me 1.5 years before they need replacing because they become too dim to grow plants or 2-3 years before they actually stop working. Sounds like you were just unlucky.
