So, I currently have a 36 gallon tank, and I just got my LED lighting system for night. It has an option of 14 different colored lights. I was planning on using just one of the colors for a night light in my bedroom, but after running the rest of the lights, I realized how awesome I thought they all were. I know this may sound like an ignorant question, but I was wondering, if I were to put the light on a slow fade between the colors, would it be a problem for my fish? I don't want to freak them out, but I love the coloring.

In the five gallon tank I had, I just had a blue night light that remained on all night.

There is a real danger here for the fish.  We've had a couple of threads on lighting recently, and rather than repeat I will give you a link to one of them.

My post #3 in that thread has data on this.

As you will see from that link, you need a significant period of complete darkness.  As for the colour question, please remember than an aquarium is primarily an environment in which living fish are expected to live.  Consideration must or should be given to their needs above ours.

Hey Byron!

Thank you so much! This is what I needed to know. Lights will be turned off before I go to sleep.

Thanks,
