i decided a while back that my tank wasnt realy light enough?? so i went out and got a small aquarium light and fitted it on to the lid on the back half of my corner tank... after i had it on simultaniously (with my original light) for about 2 months i noticed small amounts of short hair algee
so i basicly got a second timer and pluged in my extra light into the new timer and delayed it for 2 hours and shortened it by 2 hours so at 15:00 the original light comes on. 2 hours later the extra light comes on.. then the extra light goes off at 20:00 and 2 hours later the original light goes off.
its been going like this for a while now and the plants have realy taken to it they seem to be growing realy well (which im realy pleased with) also the fish seem brighter...
dont know if any one else has tryed this but its deffo workin for me.. plus theres no sign of the hair algee..
if you think about it, in the wild it would gradualy get brighter and then graduly get dark.. so ive sort of created (in lose terms) more of a natural lighting system lol...
