Been keeping fish for years but not really kept up to date with new technology, having looked around the web i see quite a few items of underwater lighting for aquaria and was wondering what they are about. Are they truely safe being fully submerged and are they any good.Im from the old ways of the strip light and starter units but these lights seem a good idea, i have a pond and am used to dealing with water and electricity but not sure about these in-tank lights, anyone use them or have an opinion on them.

I had a underwater light which also was an airstone.
It was really good. Had no problems.
Just make sure the under water lights are for tanks.

:hi:

They're largely decorative. I wouldn't expect much from them for plant growth or similar, but they can look pretty if done right.

Well basically i have a 2ft tank with a single grumpy old convict that only comes out when the lights are off so maybe a very low light in the tank might bring him out a bit, i have had him for about 8 years so we are kinda stuck with each other but it would be nice to actually see more of him than just a white shape lurking behind the rocks, there are no real plants just a few plastic.
