Hey guys noob here just got a problem i have a 2ft light for my fish tank, and im chasing some low watt bulbs becuase the light bulbs i have now are too bright they are 20 watts, so if anyone knows where u can buy cheap 2ft 5-10 watt bulbs? If not has anyone got any other ideas?

Cheers

If you have a 2ft 20 watt tube it is probably a T12 (1.5 inch) tube. These are not much used anymore and are always about 20watts. They came in different colour values, so if yours is a "white" you may be able to get a "warm white" which is less harsh. Otherwise floating plants would cut down the amount of illumination in the tank.

Regardless of bulb the unit will be putting out 20W of power, you need to change the ballast if you want to reduce brightness, or add floating plants or something.

excellent point! :good:.
even if the OP was to use a dimmer. they would still need to change the ballast unit..

how about using a diffuser, or neutral density perspex?
this would cut down the light, getting to the tank.
at a reasonable cost
