So i've just set a timer on my lights, 7 hours, however it means that i either have to have it on in the morning when i get up or when i come home from college. Is it possible to have the light on, say, half 8 till half 10, then 4-9? or would these mess with my fish :L

180l tank

2x 36W flourescent tubes on for 7hours a day

plants - amazon sword, java fern, salvinia, moss balls, anubias nana and a few other cuttings.

ferts - plantamin once a week and easycarbo daily

no CO2

Less chance of algae if you have only one photoperiod.

Agreed, stick to one straight photo period, algae is the more adaptable organism, hence why it is more likely to grow if you're implementing the 'siesta method'.

ok, thanks :)
and is 7 hours ok? not too sure how long is right coz it's not very high wattage and no CO2 etc :p
