i am new to the hobby and i bought a stater kit and i hate the light hood it came with its a 2 fixture halogen one i wanted to know if anyone could give me some ideas on good lighting

give us some pics of the hood and we might be able to come up with some ideas

i am just about to get some strips of led's to stick into my hood to add to the normal tubes

you can pick up a couple of strips with power adaptor on ebay for about £13

the hood is 20x12 i am looking to buy a new one i just want some ideas on what brands and bulbs are good

As long as the particular brand is not showing premature failures, it is a good one. Far more depends on the quality of individual components used to build it than on the name of the person who puts it all together. I have hoods from lots of different manufacturers and they all provide equal lighting. The only real variable seems to be in the quality of the ballasts and the end caps. The fluorescent tubes are always sold separately anyway.
