Hi,
I was just wondering about how long a light should be kept on for during the day on a tank. I have a aquarium fluro and is usually turned off every day when I got to bed so about 10-11pm and then back on in the morning at about 7.30am. This tank is pretty big and is usually very bright. I do have places for fish to get out of the light though.

Would the amount of lighting stress fish, and is it okay to keep what I am doing?

I currently have:
2 bristle noses
3 Dwarf Gouramis
3 Scissor Tails
3 Clown Loaches
6 Serape Tetras

No live plants.

Thanks in advance :)

your not far of youd want approx 14hrs of light a day

With no live plants in the tank, turn on the light when you are home in the evening and can use the light to watch your fish. Lleave the light off the rest of the time. Room light is plenty for the fish to be happy so don't play around and generate a bunch of algae by leaving the lights on when they are not needed.
