Hi

i have a FOWLR 100 Gallon system ( about 50kg of live rock ) , with 4 arcadia T5 Tubes . 2 blue and 2 white .

how many hours should the lights be on ? should blue and white tubes be on together ?

any advice regarding my lighting would be much appreciated

many thanks

the blues is up to you. Some people like the look that blue light brings to their corals so use white and blue together. Others use blue as a sun rise/set coming on an hour or two before their whites - weather they stay on all day is up to you.

I light my tank for 10 hours a day. Some people do 8 hours some 12. So long as the fish get time to sleep its personal preference i guess

Thank you . Does the amount of lighting effect diatom algae . i have a 2 month old tank and suffering from a brown algae bloom ?

if you dont have any corals you could cut the lighting period or have a few days with only your blues on to try and get rid of it.
Test your phosphates aswel. Do you feed frozen food? If you do melt the cubes in a cup fist and drain the water away so they go in dry. The liquid that comes of frozen foods is full of phosphates

Thanks again . I feed frozen food everyday . I fill a cup , will tank water . I then place the frozen food in the cup . When all defrosted , pour all into tank .

I will try this new method . thanks again
