I wouldn't risk it... it will probably be very hard to catch fish if you need to take them out of there.

Which would you recommend along with tetra's

Cherry Barbs, errm, you could look at what to keep in a 10 gallon thread, since most of those fish would be ok.

Maybe honey gouramis at a stretch.
