What is the recomended lighting for a 15G planted tank? What would the best possible light be for the same purpose?

It depends on the plants you want to grow that will decide the lighting you need, it also depends on the amount of maintainance you wish to carry out, how ofton you want to fertilise, do you want to use co2 etc. it depends on a number of factors.

Basically the more light you put over a tank the more time and effort will be required to maintain the tank.

What type of tank is it? is is a Juwel aquarium.........

it is going to be a tank for blue rams. it will probally have swords and vallisneria as the type of plants. and i would like it if it would be not very high mantenence in terms that i don't want to have to use CO2 i don't mind the fertilization as much.

AMEN TO THAT ! 2 WPG IS SOMETHING LIKE 1 WPG FOR A SMALLER TANK, IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO LOW MAINTENANCE YOU COULD TRY IT OUT (2WPG)

Well this is why i asked the question is it a Juwel Aquarium ie. a Reckord 60 or similar sized aquarium (24x12x12), if it is, then definatly 2 WPG is going to be too much light, myself and jimboo have the same tank and can testify that at 2 WPG (even on a 15 gallon) we get algae, usually hair algae unless we introduce co2 and then the algae will disappear.
