Hello,
Can anyone suggest a 12" wide light that LASTS? I keep having to replace the LED light on my 15" column aquarium because one by one, the LEDs eventually go out. I would prefer NON-LED for this reason, but I don't know if non-LED lights are even made anymore. This latest one is an Aqueon. I usually don't notice that the lights are going out for a while because the tank slowly darkens and I think it is because of the floating plants. It doesn't have to have any fancy options, it just has to properly light my column-type aquarium to the bottom.

Also, it needs to NOT HAVE an inline on/off switch so I can use it with a timer. I find that the lights with inline on/off switches or remote controls do not work with timers and that annoys me.

Thanks,
Mark

I can't suggest any brand, but I hve noticed (and heard) that LED lights often fail if they are very enclosed. They overheat easily, and installed in a hood, don't last.
I tend to retrofit equipment, but I always keep airflow around LED lights and they've lasted very well.

Chiheros makes some great lights that have inline bluetooth transmitters which allow you to set a schedule with your phone. You can also set sunrise sunset sequences.
