Hi
I am currenty reading up on starting a marine tank (FOWLR). I am interested in the lighting requirements for a FOWLR tank. I would appreciate any info or advice anyone could give.

If anyone has advice on other areas of FOWLR setups please let me know

Sorry I should have mentioned it. The Dimensions of the tank will be:

Length: 100cm
Width/Depth: 40cm
Height: 55cm
Total Volume: 220 Litres (48.4 Gallons UK)

I would plan to include common clowns, soft corals and anemone's in the end, but I am just trying to keep it as simple as possible and make sure I get it right until I get used to looking after saltwater tanks.

If you want simple as possible then I'd start by crossing the amemone off the list. They are notoriously prone to dying in captivity and can cause massive damage to the rest of the tank's inhabitants in the process. Besides a certain moral dilema revolving around wild caught ones.

As for lighting, it depends on the corals you want really as different ones require differing levels, even from soft coral to soft coral. Best advice would be to research lower light needing corals such as mushrooms, etc as this will allow you to save alot of money on the lights themselves as well as power bills.

Just for the record, for FO the lighting requirements are generally what is pleasing to the eye aesthetically. For FOWLR the lighting needs depend on what comes with the LR.
