i've been trying to think of a way of upgrading the lighting on my aquaone tank it's a deep square tank at 24"x24"x24" and it only has two 18" 15 watt t8 tubes so only about 0.5 watts per gallon, i've been looking at all my options and have come across this

which seems like a cheap way to upgrade the lights, i am presuming that all i will need other than the kit is a couple of tubes in which case it's a fairly cheap upgrade around £40.00 all in.

they make a 39watt version as well but the tubes to fit would be to long.

Twin 24 watt T-5 tubes will get you to about 0.83 WPG. That is quite low light but should be enough for some of the easier plants. Have you checked into what is available as T-5 HO instead of just T-5? The high output variation, at least in the US, gives higher light output with higher power consumption in smaller spaces.

i've checked the spec of the lights and they are indeed t5ho so i think i will order them and give them a go, it's got to be a lot better than what i've got now :)
