I have posted a similar question to this in the Hardware forum but, as yet, have had no replies so I thought I'd try my luck in this forum.
Surely, all the questions in this forum don't have to be about fishless cycling?
My new fish tank (36" x 12" x 15") has a hood without a light so what is it I exactly need to buy to have a light?
Obviously I need to buy a flourescent tube but what else will I need to get it all up and running? Looking at the lists of starter units and control units etc is causing quite a bit of confusion as far as I'm concerned. For example: Do I need a control unit and a starter unit and how is the tube fixed to the hood?
I'm assuming that, apart from taking the size of the tank/hood into consideration, most of the gear available will universally fit any hood?
I know I could probably get this advice from my LFS but I prefer to shop online as it's definately cheaper.
It might not sound like it but I am actually quite electrically savvy. Once I know what equipment to buy - and once I have all I need - I should be OK from there as far as wiring it and fitting it is concerned.
