I have a 2 1/2g tank that I'd really like to have a light on. Nothing special. Does anyone know of a good place to find a lighting strip, tank hood, etc for a tank of this size? I'm having such a hard time. The only thing I've found is this strip that costs $43US and puts out 18 watts...meaning just under 9 watts per gallon which even too much light if I were to set-up as a nano reef tank!!!

Help a girl, will ya?

Exactly! This is because the watts per gallon rule only works for tanks 30 (I think that's the number) gallons or more... The only thing you'll want to plant your tank and add CO2 or else with all the light and nothing to use the nutrients in the water, you will soon experience an algae bloom.

Gah! I never knew that! That's insane...well, perhaps I'll be forking out $40 afterall...

Thanks guys!

No problem. :) I was going to get the light for my 2.5 gallon, but since I'm not growing plants in it, my regular desk lamp works just fine. I know that one of the guys at my LFS picked it up for his QT tank and swears by it.
