Hey everyone. Im interested in possibly starting a planted tank but ive never had any live plants before and the lighting situation is really confusing. My tank is 110 gallons, 5 feet long, 18 inches wide, and 2 feet deep. I am building a custom canopy and toady picked up a shop light for lighting, with two t8 bulbs. the bulbs are, 32 watts, 2600 lumen output, 6500 colour temperature. Are there any plants i could raise doing this? If so what could they be? Thanks for the help!

I'm going to move this post to the planted section, since it's been sat in New To The Hobby for a while with no answers.

The issue you'll get is the 2 foot deep bit with T8, they tend to lack the punch to get much light to the lower levels of the tank.

Lower tech, slow growing things will be fine. Mosses, java ferns, anubius along with things like vallis and the hygrophilias should do OK.

i agree with DrRob also crypts should be fine as well, if you can get stronger lights in the future then i would get T5 or if you can LED's
