Hi all,

I Have a Fluval duo deep 600 for about a year now. Its planted with amazon swords and valis which have survived but havnt really florished. The tubes That come with the tank were a 15w Aqua Glow and a 15w Sun Glow. What are these tubes classed as? (T5,T8?). i want to change the tubes now as a year has gone by, can anyone reccomend what i should do, just swap the tubes like for like or use a different make of tube. I dont really want to complety change my lighting set up.

Many thanks as always

The tank in my sig is a Duo Deep 800.
Notice the Amazon nearly reaching the top!!

First thing ditch the hagen supplied lights and never look at them again. lol
They are T8. If you are UK and what an easy off the shelf combo then go to PAH and get Arcadia Lights. Theyve renamed them and cant remember their new names but they are in a pink box and a green box. These will be much better. At the same time buy some Arcadia reflectors from them for your size bulb. They clip onto the tube. The rear will fit in with a squeeze and the front will easily fit.

This will leave you at a reasonably low WPG but should be OK for the plants you are having trouble with and the whole tank will seem much brighter.

If you check out the old journal in my sig (The Clearing) there are details of all the 'adaptations' I have made to my original canopy and lights (I have since built my own hood)

Cheers for that, ive just looked on there website and ithink the two tubes are "original tropical lamp" and "freshwater lamp". Does that sound right?

They are the old names. Pets at Home have special rebranded names. Classic Tropical and natural daylight or something silly like that. Green and pink packaging though. Same bulb different name.

Pink is 4500 and daylight is 7500K un case you are wondering the K ratings. lol (doesnt say on their packagin what they are)
