Hi folks,

Had my aquarium delivered today and the light unit isn't working properly. It has two bulbs in and only one comes on, the other flickers at the ends. I've swapped them around and both work in one side but neither in the other with the same problem. The instructions also say if one tube is not working then the other one will not come on either.

Anything I can do or is it a call/email to someone? If so I'm not sure if it's best to go to the seller (Seapets) or Hagen.

Thanks
Tom

Cheers matty, sent an email this morning and rang this afternoon so I wasn't waiting over the weekend. They've given me a couple of things to try around unscrewing the part the tube goes into slightly and manipulating (not allowed to say wiggle?) it. Hard to picture while I'm at work but at least I have something to try before i have to worry about getting it repaired/replaced.

Well pleased with their customer service so far

Well I finally got round to having time to have a proper look at it after the advice from seapets. I had given it a bit of a wiggle before coming here and to them but apparently not enough as it started working almost straight away once I went back to it. It took a few attempts before I was happy, first time I got it working and unplugged it to put it back in the tank the problem repeated when I turned it back on, half way through the second repair (more wiggling) I thought it might be better to swap the tubes around (came with an aqua-glo which it tells me is for showing fish colour and helping plant growth and power-glo for coral, invertebrate (shrimp/snails?) and plant growth) so the aqua-glo was at the front where the fish would be seen from and the power-glo at the back where most of the plants would be. I don't know if it will make any difference and could have been a waste of time but I thought I might as well while I'm messing around with the thing. All along as I had followed the advice of un-screwing the end cap-type things so it could be repaired (wiggled) it had left a gap which the instruction book had told me was a big no as water could get in and cause 'problems'. So off it came again to tighten them up as far as possible - light doesn't come on... More messing around (wiggling) and finally had it working, in the correct position not upside down on the table and watertight.

After that long story (and rambling) the joy at having it working and saving myself wasting a day off to wait in for a replacement or collection for repair etc was slightly dampened by a possible problem with the filter. If I can't change the title of this thread I'll start a new one but thanks for the point in the right direction matty and well done seapets for having knowledgeable people on the end of the phone.

My fluval roma 240 was bought from seapets last year. When i received it one of the tubes was not turning on at all. So i called them.
They were great and fast. The next day i received a new tube.
Ironically it was never used few days after i got the chance to get an over the tank luminaire and the original light sytem and tank lid is to this day resting in my basement.
