Hello all. :)

I was just doing some planning and I came across these: http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-1/aquarium-lighting/small-led-fish-tank-lighting/small-planted-tropical-aquarium-led-lighting-32-led-s.html
http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-1/aquarium-lighting/small-led-fish-tank-lighting/small-planted-tropical-aquarium-led-lighting-64-led-s.html

Everyone says LED is the new best lighting, so would this be sufficient lighting for a 35L tank? I don't really understand lighting well and I have no clue about LED lighting.

In comparison, I was originally planning on purchasing this - http://www.charterhouse-aquatics.co.uk/arcadia-ar324f-ellipse-24w-freshwater-p-3525.html

And finally, if I were to buy the new Arcadia Arc 35 which comes with a ellipse compact 11w, could I just purchase the 24w bulb or is it a different size completely meaning I would have to purchase the 24w light unit?

(I'm looking for high lighting for plants and the 24w compact was the best thing I could find without spending loads)

Cheers all!

Hi there, I too have a 35L tank but the very question is do you want to have real plants in it or not.

See the LEDs you linked will not help plant growth however the 11w PL lights will. I suggest you keep the 11watt lights that comes with the tank or since you're from the UK you can have a look at this.

You can get the twin plant one and that would give you 24 watts which is more than enuff for most plants.

And no, you can not put a 24w into a 11w it's a different fitment and there much larger.

I use these on my marine but they won't grow corals or plants but there very nice and only cost me 11 quid.

techen, can i ask why you say the LED's wont grow plants?.... this is completely wrong.... any light will grow plants, it just depends on the amount of wattage produced and that will determine growth speed...along side other factors like co2, available ferts etc etc.

Ah right, well I'd rather get the 24w that is from Charterhouse as I'll be buying my tank from there anyway.

Thanks for the reply though, it cleared up the confusion.

I've just bought an arc 35 that came with 2 lamps and if there like the 20l 9watt version they'll be perfect for plant growth. I bought some roletela on the weekend just gone and I've allready had over an inch of growth but I use ferts and liquid carbon too

Well the plants I'm growing now are under a 9w in a 22L so I think I may need something stronger. I don't mind though :)
