Anyone watch the last in the series last night..

I enjoyed it, as i have done the whole series, and I will probably watch the next series, but does anyone else feel like they should have ended it there and had him wake up or something?

no. I don't fel that way.

this was a refreshing police drama, that left me always wondering
is he really in a coma or is it something else.
of course if he had "woken up" in th last episode then there would be no second serise.
but why on earth have the BBC, in their infinate wisdom, decided to wait untill August to start filming the next season :S

I felt disappointed as well! I am looking forward to series 2 though. They have researched it well, I was 20 in 1973 so I remember it well! The acting is good too. Nice change from all the rubbishy reality/cooking/housy programmes. :) Also on science fictions programmes they always make a point that a person can't meet themselves in the same reality otherwise the bogus one starts to have "cascade failure" (Stargate SG1). Maybe that's why Sam never quite meets his younger self?

He kind of does in the last epidsode, though, as you say, it's not properly "meeting."

I really enjoyed the series, I found ti extremely good, because it also didn't have too much, as I would put it "personal rubbish". Like you do on many programs.

I think that's why I like CSI so much... :D

Without doubt the best thing on TV for a loooooooooooooooooog time. Outstanding production design, acting and scripts.

I grew up in the 70s and remember much of the feel and look of the period but had forgotten just how different attitudes were back then.

The casual sexism may make you cringe, but remember that it wasn't untill several years later than 1973 that it became illegal to treat women as second class citizens with the introduction of the Sex Discrimination Act.

I thought the series was good, but I would have loved to see them have the courage to finish it at the end. So many dramas always leave it open for the "next series" or "to be continued". The programme was so well written and produced I was actually thinking by the 6th or 7th program that they would have the courage to have an ending...but no.

Strangely I felt that ending let the series down. They went for the easy cop out of "well, maybe we'll find out in the next series". What next? Will it descend into the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon where every week he will nearly find a way out, but just not quite manage?

Puts me in mind of NyLon, another great series that just copped out at the end.

Anyway, rant over, it was a fantastic show.

I think they were probably going to end it this series but it proved to be more popular than they were expecting. I've never had any dealings with the police (!) but I think they were as they are portrayed in the series, at least that's how they were shown on tv (Sweeney). They did do some very good plays in the 60's and 70's which they hardly do at all now. They go for the cheaper option - reality, cookery, gardening , celebs etc. Very boring. (To me). :)

Fantastic Series but due to family disaster (see "claim to fame" thread for info) I missed the last episode!!!! and have no clue as to how it finished other than what I have grasped from here.. anyone know where I can get a copy??

A repeat run of Series 1 can be seen in the Monday night/Tuesday morning Sign Zone each week on BBC ONE.

I love this show - but I hear that it's the last one on Tuesday and that they are not going to make any more

That DC Chris Skelton is very funny. Thanks for the link to that forum, I will had a quick browse and it looks quite good. :good:

So... what did you all think of the 2nd Series?????

Gene Hunts character is great. one liners galore.. Roll on Ashes to Ashes the 80's follow up with him in it.
